Our History

This office was founded by Dr. Henry Luckhardt in 1950.Dr. Henry was joined in by his daughter Sharon in 1965.  Dr. Henry retired in 1978. Mr. David Maze worked in the office during college when on breaks and in between semesters of optometry school. After graduation and a residency in vision therapy and rehabilitation he joined the practice as a partner thereby creating Drs. Luckhardt and Maze Ltd. In 2005. In 2015 we decided to change our name to match our mission. We became West Suburban Family Vision and Therapy Center. Our vision therapy program grew too big for our space. We decided to open a new and our current therapy only center in 2020. As we opened our new space Dr. Alicia Wong joined our team. Dr. Wong achieved Board Certification in Vision Therapy in 2022. This makes our office the only office in the western suburbs of Chicago with two doctors with FCOVD. For more information click here.

We’ve been doing vision therapy at our office nearly from the beginning.  With each generation mentoring the next our office has over 60 years of experience. You won’t find any other office with this much experience in vision therapy in the Chicago area.
